New iPad, problem with sim card

Hello,

 

My mum has bought one of the new iPads and is having an issue with the simcard:

 

She has activated the simcard, and can use 3G/4G but cannot send/recieve texts or calls using the vodafone number.

 

I have tried to add the number to the apple ID manually in the settings but I need to verify the number using a code sent through text but obviously cannot recieve it.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Problem solved, went to a different Vodafone store and they fixed it.
