Hi @Ally, if Vodafone doesn't have the legal right to allow recording for a particular programmen then this won't be possible.
To explain why: the broadcast TV programmes and movies belong to the copyright holders who on-sell the rights in NZ for:
- broadcast
- additionally distributing as video on demand (eg using TVNZ On Demand)
- restarting the broadcast
- 3 day catch up of the broadcast
- copying the broadcast for watching later
Some, or all of these rights are purchased for each programme by the broadcasters (TVNZ, Mediaworks etc) who then pass on these rights on to Vodafone. While over 90% of programmes come with recording rights, a small number do not. Vodafone must observe these rights as released to us by the broadcasters. Vodafone is working with the broadcasters to lift the coverage of recording rights.

How is progress with lifting these restrictions? It is really annoying that I cannot go to the start of a program or watch it later. Tried to show Queens message last night for my 90yr old motherinlaw but turned on too late and couldn't go back to watch it. Pretty ridiculous really in the 21st century.

Just had the forced 'upgrade'....how can not being able to record, or not being able to watch shows be called an upgrade...its absolutely pants this new system.
