Hi @Grubby

The issue is, if you are connecting Vodafone TV direct to the reciever, then it is handshaking 4K.. However your TV doesnt support 4k.  The amp only supports 4k pass through.

Could you instead plug the Vodafone TV into the TV direct, then use ARC (Audio return channel) from the TV to send the audio through the amp?

Cheers,
Grant

Hi Grant,

I had exactly the same problem when I connected Vodafone TV to my Yamaha soundbar, the TV couldn't process the video.

I HAVE now connected the Vodafone unit directly to the TV and the audio is passing through to the soundbar. But, while I'm watching content using the Vodafone TV Netflix app. the audio is massively out of sync with the video,

Because the TV is passing the audio through to the soundbar, it's delayed.

Any fix for this?

Cheers

Craig.

Hi @aotearoa

What is the input to your sound bar?  HDMI or Optical?

The soundbar has an optical and HDMI input, I'm using HDMI TV to soundbar at present. I'm guessing you're gonna tell me to try the optical input instead. - I'll give it a crack.

@aotearoa

Yep Smiley Happy. Unless your tv can delay whichever component is early (ie: the video).

**bleep**,

I had high hopes but it's still out of sync using the optical connection. I had a play with the audio delay on my Samsung telly but it made no difference. it's set at zero and more delay makes it worse.

Interestingly - Watching regular TV on Vodafone is in sync using the optical AND the HDMI cable. I'ts only the APPS on Vodafone TV that are a problem. Extra data processing/conversion I guess?

Is this a problem other external sound dydtems dya think?

Hi @aotearoa

I haven't seen any other complaints that haven't been resolved with a different connection method.

I've used HDMI into an AV receiver and currently I'm using optical out from TV to AV receiver and haven't seen any audio issue on any of the apps.

@aotearoa

Can you go from Soundbar to the TV?  Does the soundbar have HDMI out?

Ha,

Yeah, but when I set up like that, the audio is handled ok, but the video passing through the soundbar isn't de-coded by the TV properly, so I can hear audio but the screen is black :-)

Maybe I can downgrade the video output from the Vodafone unit?
