@Duntee I suggest going to Jaycar or some other electronics retailer and asking them to recommend an IR extender that includes 36 GHz. A range of 30 GHz to 60 GHz would be ideal.

May cost less for you to buy the Vodafone TV Gen 2 and use Bluetooth for remote - no line of sight required.

@Duntee we didn't consider bluetooth because of this response of yours. This indicates that your STB is Gen1

Yes STB is inside cabinet. Just want it hidden without having door of cabinet open all the time.
Had vodafone tv about 6 months, yes it’s bundled

I’ll have to check the box, will it say on it what generation it is?

@Duntee if you have had it 6 months and it is bundled then it is Gen1. Gen2 has only been in market for 3 weeks.

Hi.

How do we know what generation tv box it is?  We are desperate for a resolution to leaving the cupboard door open, so any recommendations of products that would resolve this would be greatly appreciated as I'm not entirely sure what to look for?

Hi @ivibes

NZ-80 or NZ-81 hardware is 'Gen1'

NZ-512 is 'Gen 2'

Gen 2 hardware does Bluetooth as well as IR for remote communication... So it can easily be hidden away in a cupboard or behind the TV. No need for a IR extender.  If you want to have the STB in a cupboard and still have IR control, I'd recommend moving to a Gen 2 VTV set top box.

Cheers,

Grant
