Have just renewed contract for another 24 months at the same co$t- all good I think.
I am thinking of asking to upgrade at no extra co$t to a Gen 2 from the Gen 1 we've had for the past year. Should we? Is it worth it? Anything spectacular you get with a Gen 2 over the older Gen 1 boxes?

Just Wi-fi enabled, but they run better on Ethernet cabled connection. They are the same menus and functons.

I was planning a straight swap and use the cable anyways. I've heard you can add your own apps unlike the gen 1, is that true?

The apps available on Gen 2 are the same as on Gen 1, and there is no 'store' or any way to add your own.

So no real benefit then to trying to 'upgrade'?

no issues here - one gen1 and one gen2. Both work fine and work the same way.
