Why is there nothing about landlines? We have our account with Vodafone and that includes a landline.

When we pick up the phone to ring out it rings engaged all the time. We have unplugged everything and then started it up again, no change. We are rural so w ecan't use our cellphone here. Please help us, Ninjas!!

Have you been moved to a VoIP line by any chance?

You can test this by plugging home line into the back of the router telephone port

It seems that they decided to move our landline onto the internet ( to improve our service!!!!) with out discussing it with us. We want to keep our landine on the phone line so that we can use the phone when there are power cuts. We are rural and behind a hill so don't have cellphone coverage. We have to wait until tomorrow to go to a friends to use their phone (or our cellphone) to call the 0800 number to try and get it sorted out. Why can't we access the team that can sort it out via the internet? Thanks for your reply and interest

@AnneBarker  You need to request a reversal back to POTS

Does that mean we would have to go back to ADSL and lose the internet speed benefits of VDSL?

Not at all the internet remains the same but you just want the actual phone service back on POTS

Just take note that the POTS service will be decommissioned and you won't have much choice but to move to phone service over the internet aka VoIP

Useful info thanks. Spark, who owns the copper line system would not let Vodafone put us back on to our 'normal' landline via reversing POTS, ie not phone via the internet. As we have no cell phone coverage we are now isolated if there is a power cut. Apparently Spark are going to "rip out the copper lines" within 2 years.

Spark does not own the copper Chorus does and Spark and Chorus are 100% individual companies from each other to what many people think that Spark own Chorus!

Copper will be decommissioned for sure but only where fibre is laid with no confirmed time frame

Why don't you look into a UPS for the modem?
