My Vodafone - new steps to set up email as your login/username - Sun 5 August 2018

Hello all

  

From Sunday morning, any app users who have not yet updated to the latest version of the My Vodafone app will need to update the app before using My Vodafone. Then you'll be asked to update your sign-in details to a simpler, more secure email sign-in.

 

Steps to follow

  1. Enter the email address you want to use to access My Vodafone
  2. Re-enter the email address to confirm
  3. We will send you an email to that address
  4. In that email, click the "Confirm email" red button
  5. We will then open My Vodafone login screen in a web browser, with a green box showing that your email is confirmed
  6. Enter your email address
  7. Enter your My Vodafone password (same as when you used your mobile number)
  8. You should be logged in - done!

I see Two Degrees have also made the switch to logging in with a email address instead of mobile number. any reason behind such a chnage?

Simply means your "account" is specifically tied to your mobile number, so easier to have mobile, broadband, TV etc tied to that broader account.

Oh this is part of a bigger plan to merge mobile and broadband onto one bill and one login tied to a email address rather then mobile number is the first step.

@MikeHales I'm unable to access My Vodafone from both my phone or via my computer. Do I need to re-register with an email address for sign-in?

 

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my phone but didn't get any prompts to register with an email address.

You might want to remove the "email or mobile" prompt from the app if you are now only accepting email.

 

My partner had all sorts of issues this morning, the call centre didn't know what was going on, and when she finally managed to get in it said "Hi Gary".  LOL - who is Gary we wonder.
