Move from Cable to VDSL

We are moving house and going from cable (in Upper Hutt) to VDSL (Featherston). The help desk said we could bring our existing modem with us.

We currently have two devices: a cable modem and a WiFi router. So I asked whether that means that we should bring the Router, modem or both. She said both.

Is that really the case, or do we need to bring just the WiFi router, or do we need a new modem/router (which the help desk also offered to send out of we wanted it)?

@kiwiflyer56  It would only be the Wi-Fi router the cable modem would be zero use!

Which model modem / router is it?
