Replacement SIM card not recognised by phone?

Hi Folks,

I feel so dumb by having to post this question, but I'm at the end of my tether, so to speak.


A few weeks ago, I dropped my iPhone over the side of a boat while fishing, with it my drivers licence and any sort of ID cards I had in the wallet that made up the phone case.


I managed to get a new SIM card through Vodafone ( I believe under my current number 0211435762) and bought a second-hand Samsung S6 phone via TradeMe.


However, I cannot get the phone to recognise the SIM card and when I try and call the phone with my work phone,
I'm greeted with the message "The number you have called is not authorised to receive calls".


The phone says I have full reception and "vodafone NZ" is written up in the top left hand side of the screen.


What on earth is going on here?


Not being able to make any phone calls or send any texts is becoming really annoying/frustrating, considering we
are in a lock-down situation and I would like to be able to keep in touch with family and friends.
