I have a friend who will be travelling to NZ and Australia next month and I'm trying to advise him re a SIM card for his trip. Based on my own experiences and information that I've found on the Vodafone web site, I'd say his best bet is to use My Flex Prepay with the $19 roaming add-on. (I use My Flex Prepay myself when travelling to NZ and it's awesome!)
I have two questions:
1. Will he be able to buy an appropriate SIM card at the Vodafone kiosk in the airport in AKL when he arrives? I've only ever bought a Travel SIM there ...
2. Will they be able to help him get set up with the My Flex Prepay plan? He's not very technically adept. (I think I can probably manage to work out instructions for him to add the roaming when he's ready ...)
The Prepay Flex plan will be good for your friend to use in NZ and they can use the roaming addon once they are ready to go to Australia. Bear in mind though that they will not get any minutes to call home with this prepay plan.
Also, he will be able to purchase the required SIM at the airport kiosk.
