Hey team. I cant get any 5G operating on my phone. I've been on a call with tech supprort for ages and it 'should' work but unfortunately its not. 4G+ is the maximum I get.
Its an imported phone bought locally in NZ, nothing unusual about it.
I underatand imported phones arent guaranteed to operate over 5G, however it seems unusual here given this model. It would be great to be able to use your 5G service and if not at least an explation as to why, it would be helpful.
This hapened previsouly from an Australian bought phone with 4G. After a quick call I was up and running, however not the case here. Can someone please assist in some way? Is it the 5G bands? I cant see any info on this @ VF site.

An imported phone wont have the Vodafone NZ config on it for 5G. That will be why.
The local ones have NZ firmware and config for NZ operators.

I have S20 Ultra 5G - NZ sourced and it gets 5G ok when in coverage.
- Make sure you are actually in 5G coverage area. There aren't many outside Akl. Wgtn and Chch central areas.
- Make sure 5G is enabled in the Connection Settings
- Make sure the APN in the network settings is set to 'vodafone'
VoLTE calls wont work though on your variant

.. also your model number is different to the NZ ones from Vodafone.
It does not support the Band 28 that Vodafone uses a lot in 4G and 4G carrier aggregation. 4G is used as the base to 5G
So if your location is Band 28 heavy you will
- get slow 5G as the phone is missing a band
- not attach to 5G if it needs band 28
The coverage maps on the website will help you with your location coverage for 5G
If my earlier suggestions dont work, then the model may not be suited to NZ 5G and it would be worth questioning the retailer over it...

Mmwave is not out here for a long time yet. No one in NZ uses it.
The specs I read for your model says no band 28. If all other settings looked right, then maybe its a coverage issue there - no 5G and you'ld need to locate a good 5G area to test. The 5G icon will appear when connected.

Thanks for cofirming that. The specific model I have is G9810ZCU2BTK1. I checked coverage pretty well and didnt get 5G. I'll try again.

@xfaust Your first mistake is buying an imported phone and expecting it to support the NZ 5G bands and then expecting the carrier to support it
