Hi VF Comunity admin
I have 3 Vodafone mobile numbers and I have noticed a sudden spike in the International scam/unsolicited calls on all my numbers over the last 1 months. Just in the last 3 days I have received multiple calls from Australia, UK and Myanmar. Mostly I kept declining the calls or just letting it disconnect, but a couple of times I picked up the phone as the number looked like a NZ fixed number but I heard someone speaking in Burmese language and immediately disconnected it.
This is really annoying and I am afraid I may miss a valuable call from Aus or UK regarding job interviews due to this. If the caller doesn't opt to leave a voicemail message I am bound to lose on an opportunity due to the amount of spam-like calls I recevive.
These are some numbers I received in the last 3 days.
0095251834 (actualy displayed as 095251834)
Isn't there anything Vodafone can do to prevent these type of calls?

I've been getting the same deal of late. Got quite a decent list of phone numbers from all over the place now. I'm blocking th em, but its like whack-a-mole.
Generally easy to spot - I'm not expecting any calls from UK,switzerland, myanmar, singapore etc.. I just let them ring out and then block them, but getting a few from Australia and NZ now, so its harder to know if these are legit calls for my job, or if its someone selling me 'financial markets' advice.
I've feigned interest in the odd call and just watch TV and ask random questsions... figure the longer I can keep em on the phone the less chance that someone will get spammed/scammed.
one guy guaranteed me returns of 20%, but wouldn't lend me any money to invest. I said I'd pay him back from the returns, but he wasn't interested.
But I wondered if vodafone was collating the numbers these people are calling from to block them at a telco level? That hopefully catch the odd few that are caller ID blocked. Those are really annoying as a few businesses I deal with block caller ID, not to mention my GP seems to also, amongst others.

I'm not certain if you know this but there are apps you can put on your mobile phones that will block these spam calls
The best I have seem is called : WideProtect Spam Call Blocker.
I know its on the Apple Store and would guess its also available for Android.
The reason I say its the "best" is that its about the only call blocker that I have seem that allows you to use wildcard entries.
For example use 006140**** will block calls starting with 006140
I think it may need an internet connection (wifi or mobile) as it checks against a spam database when calls come in.
If you have a landline I have also seem some of the Panasonic phones that have "Nuisance Call Block"
You do need caller ID activated for this.

Hi Phoebenz72, Great idea to keep the scam caller on hold for as long as possible. A new rash of them has just started on our line. She said she was calling from Spark so I said our ISP is Vodafone. I guess if they say they are from Vodafone you can tell them you are with Spark. Either way, they'll hang up.
With telemarketers I just tell them I'm not interested and suggest they make their next call which always works without needing to be rude to someone who's just trying to earn a living!
