A very condescending response to his message Johnr. Even if he hasn't submitted a ticket what you've shared is probably not what he wants to hear.
If customer support are telling people to ping vodafone.co.nz to determine if there is a problem with how traffic is being routed, or claiming it's a DNS issue I wouldn't be surprised he hasn't rung.
I also prefer not to ring them. Wait times are usually horrendous and in this unique issue I doubt they're trained enough. My pick is they look over pages of 'go to' solutions and in this scenario have tried to pick the most likely steps, and in this case since the word routed sounds similar to router they go to the modem/router troubleshooting document.
The person has posted to this forum in the hope someone from Vodafone can post an update to this thread to keep people informed, not have a question answered with a question.
My son has been experiencing similar issues with latency with Overwatch and WoW Classic. We chose to deal with a Complaints Specialist lady and seem to have a better channel of communication. I am, however, frequently checking this forum post to see if Vodafone do post information before I hear back from Linda.

Yes, fixed. Back to 41ms.
I'm happy it's finally done but seriously should not have taken this long. I haven’t been able to play WoW Classic for over a week.
