Hi, I have just obtained a new Vodafone Smart Ultra 7 phone. I have set up my hotmail email and its working fine. All my contact information is in that hotmail account and although I have selected that email account none of the contacts transfer to the contacts folder on the phone. Help please

Unfortunately this article does not solve my problem.
As I have outlined I can access my email and contacts via the outlook app but I cannot transfer the contacts to the phone's address book - the "contacts" icon/program which sits on the phones homescreen.

That is all well and good if you have a gmail account. I do not have a gmail account nor do I want a new gmail account

Check out the Android Query forum, there were a few options there.

I still have the issue. I have no problems with the email app and I can sync my emails, calender and I can view my contacts through the email app.
However I cannot sync those email contacts with the address book on the phone. This is my ongoing issue.

After not being able to solve the issue through this forum I visited a "Ninja" at a Vodafone store. They were absolutely useless and no use. The Ninja continued to tell me I needed an old phone to transfer the contacts to the new phone. He could not explain the menus on the contacts/address book on my phone that offer which contacts you want to import/display. These are the functions that I want to work but he was unable to help me.

First of all Export all contacts to excel csv format and download Google contacts android app from playstore or playapk or apk mirror. Now you browse and import all contacts from excel file.
or
Open you hotmail account, Click people icon > Select contacts > enter on manage , now you can export all or selected contacts to excel.Import excel to google contacts or contact restore apps on android.
