iphone 7 & imessage

Message 1 of 6 (650 Views)

Hi Team,

So I got a iphone 7 last week and I set it all up, it activated iMessage (I had android before)

It sent a international text, I knew it would, and I thought it was activated, however Today I got charged for 2 more of these texts, is this a normal thing for it to keep needing to be reactivated for no reason?

@Christopher I have seen iPhone re-trigger the activation SMS' after SW updates. Also it's probably one SMS act for iMessage and one for FaceTime for you today Chris, there is one sent for each.

Cheers

Hi @Christopher

You should only be charged these when this message comes up, as far as I'm aware, tapping ok is the moment it triggers the activation SMS.

This should generally only happen if you take out the SIM etc.

If it continues to happen, you should call Apple as it's the phone that is incorrectly sending these.

Shouldn't do, maybe a major update like iOS 9 - iOS 10 but not a minor update.

Unfortunately we don't refund these no, as they're sent by the handset and we have to deliver them to Apple in Ireland.

Oh Thanks @sebastianbd

Yes that makes more sence,

Also My SW update did weird things twice 10.0.1 to 10.0.2

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7677084

this could have maybe caused my imessage to deactivate, because it kinda puts the handset into recovery mode, which I guess is treated as though the Sim Was removed.... I think I should update via OTA only now as having to go though this everytime I do a SW update is a pain, it takes at least an hour on my phone saying ''Attempting Data Recovery''

There's more then one forum with people posting about this update error when using itunes to SW update, it might just be limited to Windows 10 only.
