Went in to Porirua to buy two phones, one for myself and one for my wife. I asked if it was in stock, the guy (manager I think) said he had a dummy one in a box out back but no stock.  I asked if he could bring it out, and he said he was gonna send it back as there was no demand.

I am amazed the guy wouldn't bring it out as we would of got him to order them in if we liked it.  Vodafone has got a great windows phone in, but it's lack of support, colours and pricing will mean everyone imports the phones themselves....I wonder why there is no demand.

Hi @nic32 ,

 I'd love to get some feedback passed on to this store, could you please click on my name and send me a private message with the location & time you visited?

@BadCowz ,

Same goes for your experience - Please flick me a PM with the store location & time of visit. The Lumia 930 has been featured on the Coming Soon page for some time, after all. Smiley Happy

Thanks,

Good catch. Unsure quite why the Vodafone NZ Community would be perceived as a good avenue to promote a UK escort agency, but what would I know. Smiley Wink

Maybe some very random bot work or Chole is going to beomce the English version or Cortana in a plan to increase Microsft sales.

Hmm, possibly a localisation like the Chinese Cortana variant with eyes? Smiley Wink

They did say the different Cortanas will have different voices. I hope there's a way to change the voice recognition language while keeping the original voice - but then I'm a bit of a Halo fan.

Check out thet-shirt on the Joe Belfiore selfie (maybe from a Superman 4.7" selfie phone) Smiley Wink

I so hope that Australian Cortana is Skippy Smiley Wink

The langauge thing could go many ways on Windows Phone.  I am hoping it is better than Android where you chose from 20 versions of English and get defaulted to one of three (and probably not the one of the three you wanted) language defaults that Google bothered to actually create.  English New Zealand on Android is US voices (Google Now and Navigation) with UK spelling.  I have set all my phone to English UK now.

Good catch on the selfie! Belfiore has always seemed a top bloke to me, can't fault his enthusiasm - and I do dig that shirt.

I do like that it's so easy to switch the languages & regions on devices now - times were, it'd require a factory reset. The one sticky point is that settings things to English UK can sometimes result in the default currency symbol changing to the pound. Almost makes me miss Windows Mobile, where every tiny regional preference could be tweaked.

I agree about the preferences.  Modern OSs are less personal in many ways.

When I get my next Windows Phone (hopefully the 830) I will probably set it to UK region and language to English UK to get UK Cortana and the bias for English football content.  A shame that the Cortana team decided to go down the regional content path rather than treating people as individuals with any potential world wide interests.  The interview with the Cortana team that was published was a bit of a let down really (I was hoping for a more flexible approach).
