E mail problems

HI,

We have a very fustrating email problem. My email account is with Paradise. I have recently moved house and found the new place only had 2 phone jacks, and neither was in a suitable place for my computer.

My internet connection used to be through a Vodafone modem.

Vodafone supplied a WiFi hotspot, which allowed me to connect the internet from a seperate power point in my house, without the need to go through the modem.

This is working OK after a few bedding in problems.

My problem is that I am reciving emails but I cannot send them. The email set up used to be -:

Account type: POP3

User name: xxxxxxx

password: xxxxxxx

Incoming mail server: pop3.paradise.net.nz

Outgoing mail server : smtp.paradise.net.nz

With the new hot spot unit, the Outgoing Mail address changed to : smtp2.Vodafone.net.nz

This should have been straightforward, but every time I try to send an email, we get a window

asking for a password for the Vodafone address and a message saying that Outlook (2010) cannot

locate the server.

We can still recive emails - not send them and the messages seem to go into a loop, with the question

for the password comming up again & again.

Any way I can get my email service back? I am deaf and its my main communication, so you can understand my fustration.

Regards.

Graeme Taylor.

Shouldn't be posting your email details AND password in a public forum

Well, that can always be changed - but whats your solution to get the email going again? Been to Vodafone, which simply gave the same settings I have been using.

A window keeps coming up asking for a password for the smtp2 server.

@speedyt

I've removed your details from the post. Re the outbound email settings, should be

as per http://help.vodafone.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/19567/ i.e.

  • For Paradise: smtp.clear.net.nz
  • Port: 25
  • SSL/TLS is OFF

Still the same fustrations. Incoming email gets green tick.

Outgoing says "outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) server. If you contine to recive this message,

contract your sever administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)"

or -: "Send Test Email message: Cannot find the email server. Verify the sever information in your email properties."

or you get a green tick for incoming mail, BUT a password window comes up asking for a password for outgoing mail.

If you already setup the right outgoing server and still has the same error.

Its better to check with your ISP if that email address is still active on their file

I finally had a test email send and recive. But the problem now is that I seem to have several emails in my postbox (I can check Paradise through my mobile) and these don't seem to be displaying in my Inbox! Also sent a test email to a mate, and he has recived it accordinding to Paradise, and its not showing in the outbox - in fact can't find anything since Tuesday when this whole issue came up.

We can do a send recive and get green ticks for both, so we must be connecting.
