I have left the country for an extended period. As a result I am opting to reduce my contract to the minimum monthly fee while away. It appears I cannot do this without providing a drivers licence or passport. I don't have a drivers licence, nor am I prepared to offer anyone, other than customs/immigration my passport details. Having had my account since about 1996 with Bell South/Vodafone, I am reluctant to close the account.
Is there an alternative or is that my only option?
If you're not in a contract, you can contact our disconnections team to move you to prepay so you won't be charged any monthly fee while overseas, you just need to topup once per year. They won't need your ID details to do so.
Driver license is also a valid form of ID.
