ultra hub parental controls

Hi Peole,

Trying to set up the Parental control...

I use:

Parental Controls are available in Advanced Mode, under the Internet menu

  1. Log into your Ultra Hub using a web browser, go to 192.168.1.1
  2. Log in with your username/password
  3. Switch to Advanced Mode using the drop down menu in the top right corner of your screen
  4. Select the Internet menu
  5. From the left-hand menu, select Parental Control
  6. There you can create specific rules for each device, days of the week and start and finish times
  7. Click on the + button to add a new rule

But when I enter a time say: 09:00 start time and 22:59 end time - it cuts them off at 8.20 pm

If i put like start: 05:00 and end at: 23:59 - it does not work in those times..

Does anyone know the correct format for this?

thanks

John

I Think I figured it out - unlike you expect the times are the times you want blocked, not when they are allowed (As per normal)...

My understanding is that theres still a bug with the firmware that doesn't allow for many setting changes to be saved - this has been the case since the hub was introduced and several firmware upgrades have not fixed the problem. I don't even be able to save WIfi turned off

I just spent 4 hours trying to get this to work on my new fibre connected UltraHub..absolute fail. Applied the rules to wifi connected devices - kids phones and chromebooks - and it would just block device outside of the time rule or partially block connection...or not apply at all.

the user interface is vey cludgy..luckily I held on to my older HG659 that has working parental controls..slower wifi connection is small price to pay fo rmore control.

Mine save with spaces in the name, it's overlapping time slots for an individual device that stops it saving.

It wont let you save if any of the settings for an individual device overlap (making configuration even more stupidly complex).

The Ultra Hub has very very very stupid design about "parent control' function, difficult to use.

An example, if you want to allow two kids (A & B) using their chrome book from 15:00-20:30 at workday and from 12:00-20:30 at weekend. Below is how much trouble you need to go through:

Advanced Mode - Internet - Parent Control - Add access control -

  1. Rule name: Kid A workday1. Device: Chromebook A. Days: every workday, Time: from 00:00 to 15:00
  2. Rule name: Kid A workday2. Device: Chromebook A. Days: every workday. Time: from 20:30 to 23:59
  3. Rule name: Kid A weekend1. Device: Chromebook A.Days: all weekend. Time: from 00:00 to 12:00
  4. Rule name: Kid A weekend2. Device: Chromebook A.Days: all weekend. Time: from 20:30 to 23:59
  5. Rule name: Kid B workday1. Device: Chromebook B. Days: every workday, Time: from 00:00 to 15:00
  6. Rule name: Kid B workday2. Device: Chromebook B. Days: every workday. Time: from 20:30 to 23:59
  7. Rule name: Kid B weekend1. Device: Chromebook B. Days: all weekend. Time: from 00:00 to 12:00
  8. Rule name: Kid B weekend2. Device: Chromebook B. Days: all weekend. Time: from 20:30 to 23:59

Old Huawei modem has much better design and easy to use - It allows you to add two or more kids in same rule. It allows "access time" (not block access time). It allows different time on workday and weekend in one rule....

I was expected to get more advanced or equally good modem when upgraded to 12 month contract. Ultra Hub has one less Ethernet plug point, painful "parental control" function, unable auto-detect device type/name.... Everything has to be manually set up/named... very disappointed with this backward Ultra Hub.
