I live in a flat with 8 people and this modem becomes unusable after several days of use.

I bought a digital timer and programmed it to cut power to the modem every night 1.55am-2am.

This is the only way that the internet speed stays usable. Otherwise the fibre connection degrades to being mostly unresponsive.

Hi Dylan

Will this latest firmware resolve IPv6 not working on a fibre connection? We seem to get an IPv6 address on the wan the IPv6 DNS resolves but no traffic. It only works on IPv4.

Also there is no option to perform an upgrade in the Maintain menu. The router software version as follows:

Product type:
HG659
Device ID:
00E0FC-S3G7N16415001185
Hardware version:
VER.B
Software version:
V100R001C206B020
 IP details as per router:

Access type:
Ethernet
IPv4 status:
Connecting

Internet_Ethernet

Access type:
Ethernet
IPv4 status:
Connected
IPv4 address:
47.72.67.209
IPv4 primary DNS server:
203.109.191.1
IPv4 secondary DNS server:
203.118.191.1
IPv4 default gateway:
47.72.67.254
IPv6 status:
Connected
IPv6 address:
2407:7000:f015:0:8a28:b3ff:fe93:7ffd/128
IPv6 primary DNS server:
2407:7000:2100:5300::1
IPv6 secondary DNS server:
2407:7000:ff00:5300::1
IPv6 address prefix list:
2407:7000:9529:7600::/56

USB_Vodem

Access type:
UMTS
IPv4 status:
Disconnected

Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If you've got an IPv6 address and the HG659 then you should be fine running IPv6 traffic, see this thread for more detail. From what I can see on the network you're connected OK, and an IPv6 ping from your router works fine. Give the router a reboot first to rule that out, then call our tech support and get them to investigate. If you have no luck with that, PM me.

To upgrade it's in the Maintain menu under Device Management. I think you need to be logged in as Admin to do that.

cheers,

chris

I've found this RGW to be unstable.  Ours has been replaced as it kept losing the port forwarding configuration.  Now the new one is doing the same thing!  Last week it was the VPN ports that were dropped and last night it was the IMAP and SMTP ports.  In addition performance drops every few days and I have to restart things.

After the RGW was replaced, I did restore the configuration from the old RGW, to preserve the host naming and port forwarding.  Not sure if Motive HDM is now confused about administering the RGW.

We never had any problems before we upgraded to FibreX and had the RGW supplied (previously, it was just the cable modem connected directly to our own router).

hi . If the Vodafone Ireland is using the same hardware variant as ours NZ hardware HG659 yes you should be able to flash our firmware. if the Vodafone Ireland has locked out this function then it will fail. Would not know until you try it and by any chance if you brick it just give us a buzz and we ll see if we are able to send you a new one! Smiley Happy
