Just put up this thread before I saw this post. http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Personal-and-Business-Broadband/Huawei-HG659-2-4-GHZ-wifi-doesn-t...

Would you reccomend I download the firmware update?

Thanks.

I seem to have locked myself out of my HG659. If I factory reset will all the vodafone specific setting disappear? Once I get back into it and update the firmware will that also retain the vodafone nz specific settings?

I did my upgrade two nights ago.  Right after the upgrade the modem was performing well.  The website that I had trouble to get to (https://venta.renfe.com/vol/login.do?Idioma=es&Pais=ES&inirenfe=SI) was finally available at home (I could access this website from 4G network or at my workplace).  The speed was good and there was no wifi dropout.  Tried to play FIFA 16 online and had no problem finding opponents instead of constantly getting the message "no opponents available".  I was planning to switch my ISP before the upgrade but then I thought "hey, this looked good, maybe I could stick with Vodafone after all".  Alas everything changed back to how it was after one night!?!?!  The website that I mentioned above was no longer available.  FIFA 16 online was once again unplayable because of the connection issue - just earlier today I spent over 40 minutes waiting for one game with no avail.  The only good thing left is a stable wifi, but God knows how long with that last.  You have to say there's something very wrong here - either with the modem itself or with Vodafone's server settings, or perhaps my account profile was corrupted somehow?  I don't know, it is just strange, and I guess my days with Vodafone are numbered.

Is this firmware finalised and ready for general use now or still in testing?

Thanks

Hi Tig

Yes, it was finalised and ready for general use as soon as we made it publicly available here. We've been automatically updating the firmware on modems that are already out there, it has now been rolled out to over 80% of the HG659 modems we've shipped.

Cheers

We upgraded to VDSL a few months ago. Either I'm missing something major or am running an old/crippled version of the firmware.

I go to the Maintain -> Device Management, can it displays only:

Reboot, and

Factory Restore

I cannot locate at all any of the backup / restore / firmware update options

Just for completeness these are the menu items under Maintain:

System Information

Account Management

Device Management

System Logs

One Key Diagnostics

Tools

Statistics

Any ideas? Yes it's the HG659

Ah yes, you may also want to add that the username is case-sensitive (capital A Admin, and that "@" + last 8 digit password works).
