Hey everyone!

Whenever we have Wi-Fi drops or even Wi-Fi speeds issue or not enough coverage it’s really important we have a play around with our Wi-Fi channels.

The modem broadcasts Wi-Fi on up to 2 different Frequency Bands simultaneously and it is important to make sure you change the channel on the correct band to help with speed, drops outs and coverage. Here are the instructions that will help you out and advise how to change the settings yourself.

Vodafone wireless modem

  1. Open your web browser - In the address bar, type 192.168.1.1
  2. Press Enter
  3. Enter your Modem Username - Admin
  4. Enter your Modem  Password, either: VF-NZhg659 (note - case sensitive) or @ and then the last eight digits of your modem's serial number. (E.g. @12345678)
  5. Click Home Network from the top menu
  6. Click WLAN Settingsfrom the left.
  7. Click Advanced Settings
  8. Under the heading 2.4GHz Frequency Band
  9. Click the dropdown list next to Channel.
  10. Select the desired Channel number (default: Auto).
  11. Under the heading 5GHz Frequency Band
  12. Click the dropdown list next to Channel.
  13. Select the desired Channel number (default: Auto).
  14. Click Save.

Please try channel 1,6 and 11 for at least 5min to see if the speed is better and the drop outs stop.
