I’m trying to set up an AirPort Extreme base station with my Vodafone broadband but am having real trouble.
I have a main coaxial cable going into a splitter. Two coaxial cables come out of the splitter with one coaxial going into a Motorola Surfboard SB5101 modem and the other coaxial going into a Technicolor TC7210 router.
My thinking is that I should be able to take the main coaxial out of the splitter and connect it directly to the Motorola Surfboard SB5101 modem. Then connect an Ethernet cable from the Motorola Surfboard SB5101 modem into the Gigabit Ethernet WAN port on the Apple Airport Extreme base station. I thought this would connect the internet to the modem via the coaxial and then through to the Apple AirPort Extreme via the Ethernet cable.
Unfortunately, I don’t get a live internet connection this way.
Can anyone please help? Do I have a strange setup or am I doing something obviously wrong?
