No internet connection

Finaly ive signed up for broadband, got the email its all go on 27th july, modem arrived on 28th. I have set it up as per instructions i even watched the video on vodafone site to make sure its right. The instructions say the WAN light will come on but it hasnt. Ive tried connecting it to another outlet in the house and still doesn't come on. Been 2 days now and its still not working. Contacted vodafone they said to try different outlet & check its hooked up properly. Done that still not working. Advised vodafone of this but still havent heard back from them. Anyone know why the WAN light is off?
