Modem Update causing Landline Problems

Hi There,

Last night I had had my modem (Model: Huawei HG556a) updated in order that it could support wireless codes (802.11n as the modem previously only supported codes of 802.11b/g).

However upon recieiving the update the Landline phone has been affected.

About 40 secs into any call a loud beeping noise comes out from the phone, so loud that hearing the other person on the phone becomes impossible

Hence I havent called vodafone, and am asking how to resolve this issue over the web.

Please help, Thanks!

I suspect that something went wrong with the firmware update.

Because of the update, the reinjection feature is not accessible anymore but however, the feature is active and is causing noise on the line. If a factory reset doesn't work, try to download the firmware file and perform the update.

Web browser -> 192.168.1.1 -> Username/Password : advanced/advanced

In the menu on the left of the page, click on Voice -> Re-injection -> Disable -> Save.

This will resolve your issue.

Sorry, click on Phone. The resulting new page should have that option.

That's how it's supposed to look. Can you please perform a factory reset on the device and try again?
