My inetrnet connection gets lost very often all day recently. We can't do any work with this problem going on.
I bought a D-Link DSL-4200 Modem/Router not so long ago and it was going fine for sometime after I have updated its firmware, so I assumed all the settings were correct but disconnection started to happen again.
Could someone please advice me how settings should be for this Modem/ Router?
Vodafone adviceded me to go through Isolation test, so I did and there was no problem.

If you did an isolation test (only plug the modem into the phone jackpoint and nothing else) and it was fine, then it is not a modem issue. It souunds like you dont have all phones filered.
Make sure that any phone (or Sky box, monitored alarm) or any device plugged into any phone jackpoint has a line filter on it.
Without these your dsl will have problems.or degraded service.

Thank you for your advice.
I have 4 jack ponints and all of them have a filter on it.
a Strange thing is that our internet works fine without a drop out for a few weeks but then it drops out every some minutes for one week or longer.
I don't know what is wrong with it.

It could be a line fault which can happen now and again on DSL. Water in the line or corrosion etc.
It would pay to call up and raise a fault. Chorus are usually pretty good and coming out to fix these things and it may make your line better than before if it was on its way out already.

Thank you for your advice again.
I will ask Vodafone to get Chorus to come and have a look.
Vodafone has said that it would cost me around $150 or more, but I feel that we don't want to live with this problem any longer.

Just for additional info, "internet disconnection" has several reasons, insufficient wifi signal, corroded transmission line, port misconfiguration on the exchange, incorrect authentication logins.
Try checking for attenuation and SNR margin on the modem status info page.
