I am on a flexi plan which has 200 minutes but it is saying I don't have enough credit to ring voicemail.
Why not?
I'm not topping up on top of my $35 I've already spent, just to listen to a 20 cent voicemail.

Voicemail is a seperate service to the MyFlex plan you've paid $35 for.

You could topup an extra $5 or $10 once, and that would remain in credit for you to call voicemail, as long as you dont spend it on anything else.

So why doesn't it come out of the 35 bucks I've spent topping up?
And is 10 bucks really what I've got to spend to listen to one voicemail essentially.

I've just encountered the same problem. That's just silly. Come on VodafoneNZ, it's 2017. You sell someone a phone number and let them prepay $XX of credit but you won't let them listen to voice messages unless they pay more credit separately?! I have breaking news. People with phone numbers get voice messages! Really, it happens quite a lot. It's like in the good old days when people with addresses got mail through their mailboxes from people far away. They didn't pay every time they opened the box - the folk sending the mail (leaving the phone message) had already done that. The post service worked that out pretty quickly, round about 1840 I think.
