12 March 2013 Update: Date of migration has now been rescheduled to 19 March. Thanks for your patience.

********************************************************************************************************************************

We are moving vodafone.net.nz email addresses to the internet  and landline email platform. Your username@vodafone.net.nz email address will remain the same. Customers who host their Domain email addresses through the mobile email platform will have a few more changes, however these will be communicated directly to them.

The move is scheduled for 19 March 2013.

The Internet and landline email platform will provide:

• Increased mailbox size

• Better look and feel. More intuitive, updated icons, help and settings
• Filter inbox by unread, flagged or unanswered
• Import and export address book contacts as vcards
• Inbox search functionality
• Change mailbox language and timezone
• View conversation in a thread
• Display attached images below messages
• Flag messages to delete and choose to not show deleted messages
• Better spam filtering

• More priority level options
• Set which folder sent items will be saved in
• Better troubleshooting functionality and offer a high level of security

Unfortunately however, some functionality from the old email platform will no longer be available, such as:

• Calendar
• Notes
• Text Notifications
• Calendar Reminders
• To Do List
• Change between 12 and 24 hour time format
• Spam folders
• Auto Purge
• Filter by certain words

As this functionality will no longer be available please make sure any important dates or reminders in your calendar are saved in a separate document so you do not lose them. Your email account will now be on the internet  and landline platform so it will not be linked to your mobile, you will now log into your email account through the link on the front page of www.vodafone.co.nz. To manage your account you will need to log into the internet  and landline My Account link on the main page of the vodafone.co.nz website.

We’ll have more info leading up to the move and will be in touch with affected customers directly. Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can help out at all.

Such a shame that the new platform will not be able to trigger SMS notifications. That was such a nice feature ...
Other than that I was wondering whether the email account will still be linked to a Vodafone mobile number or will be operated independently?
The other thing that concerns me is whether we will be able to keep @vodafone.net.nz email address permanently (pretty much like @ihug.co.nz) even if we change providers sometime in the future?

We are moving vodafone.net.nz email addresses to the Fixed Line and Broadband email platform, the same platform behind vodafone.co.nz email addresses. Your username@vodafone.net.nz email address will remain the same, but the email functionality is being moved to another set of computer servers.

The move is scheduled for 14 February 2013.

All email settings will remain the same:

• Username
• Password
• vodafone.net.nz email address
• POP/IMAP settings

The Fixed Line and Broadband email platform will provide:

• Better look and feel. More intuitive, updated icons, help and settings
• Filter inbox by unread, flagged or unanswered
• Import and export address book contacts as vcards
• Inbox search functionality
• Change mailbox language and timezone
• View conversation in a thread
• Display attached images below messages
• Flag messages to delete and choose to not show deleted messages
• Add a return recipient
• More priority level options
• Set which folder sent items will be saved in
• Better troubleshooting functionality and offer a high level of security

Unfortunately however, some functionality from the old email platform will no longer be available, such as:

• Calendar
• Notes
• Text Notifications
• To Do List
• Set Spam Filter
• Auto Purge
• Filter by certain words

We are looking into the best way to move your contacts across to the new platform and will have more details in January.

We’ll have more info leading up to the move and will be in touch with affected customers directly. Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can help out at all.

Thanks for the info, maybe it would be a good idea to email all those with *@vodafone.net.nz addresses and let them know as not everyone visits these forums

Thanks for the suggestion. That's actually something we already have planned. We are emailing all vodafone.net.nz email addresses in batches, so if you haven't heard from us directly yet you will do soon. :)

The burning question for me is: once this change comes into effect, will I still be able to access my VF.net emails by simply tapping the Email icon on my Galaxy S2, as I do now?

Or will I have to go through a ponderous Log On process each time...Smiley Sad

Cheers,

George

Thanks John, that's most reassuring. I do a lot of my emailing from the S2.

Are you sure this is the case? At present, I access my vodafone email through IMAP at securemail.onebox.com:993 (TLS). Are you sure this isn't going to change?

You should not be using that " securemail.onebox.com " This is something Vodafone has never given out

imap.vodafone.net.nz you should be using
