4G devices

I received a nice Xmas gift, a Hawea E5776 wi fi hotspot  . Sim cards and dat plans for it to access Telecoms  network  (3G and 4G where available) are sold by Telecom (http://store.telecom.co.nz/mobile/prepaid/mobilebroadband/huawei-e5776#plans-pricing) but I would prefer to stick with Vodafone. Can you tell me whether or not this device will work with Vodafones network (3G and 4G) , and , if so, please advise me what SIM card and data plans I should be looking at?

cheers

John

Hi jflbnz,

Telecom's site lists the following supported bands for the E5776:

Network

  • 2G Network:
    GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G Network:
    UMTS 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
Download Speed: Up to 42Mbps (Dual Carrier)
  • 4G:
    LTE (CAT 4) 800 /  900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600

As Vodafone's network utilises 900MHz & 1800MHz for 2G, 900MHz & 2100MHz for 3G, & 1800MHz for 4G, this device should work just fine. Smiley Happy

On the plan side, take a look at our Prepay options here & our On Account options here.

Hope that helps!

Hi @jflbnz - welcome to the Community! I've moved your post to a new topic in the right area of the forums. Smiley Happy

Unfortunately, I am no expert on these devices and can't answer your question personally, but perhaps one of our Ninjas can help...? @johnr @RochelleB ?

Hi jflbnz

If this device supports 1800 MHz then it will work on the Vodafone 4G network. If it supports 900 and 2100 MHz then it will work on the Vodafone 3G network.

I managed to find this info

http://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/products/technicalspecs/e5776-en.htm

Looks like it will support 3G but not 4G.

thanks Nik

can you tell me how that hawea devie compares to the vodafone line(s) of similar products . I's hard (for me)  to find tech specs and/or original manufacturers on vodafones wi fi hot spot devices, but i think the hawea might be comparable to vodafones r215? maybe to r208?

fearues required/desired are:

1) usb charging

2) external antenna port (prefrably bvia an external plug in rather than one that requires any back cover to be removed)

3) 4G compatibility

1 and 2 are "required" since the main usage will be where there is no mains power and where signals are weak; 3 is more of a futre proofing option - plus just to take advantage of 4G where it is available

Hi @jflbnz,

You might be correct with regards to our Vodafone Pocket WiFi R215: Vodafone Pocket WiFi R215

It features all 3 of the features that you require/desire.

  1. It has both mains and USB charging
  2. It has a direct antenna connection port on the side of the device
  3. It is 4G compatible

With regards to the technical specifications, you can find those on our Vodafone Global Product Site: https://www.business.vodafone.com/site/bus/public/enuk/support/10_productsupport/wi_fi_devices/p_wi_... -- you can find information on various Vodafone branded products here.

Note: Not all of these products will be available in New Zealand.
