Hi, I am having problem with a Dell laptop running win10  (recent upgrade).

For some reason I cant connect to my HG556a wifi. It says limited access.

Heres what Ive tried:

- connect to other wifi networks: connected and online.

- wired connection: connected and online.

- changed wifi network settings (

and channel(just for the sake of it) .

- forgotten/re-added wifi.

- reset, reconfig modem.

No luck so far. Tips would be very much appreciated.

-

ps: not sure if i posted it in the right place, doing this in a hurry.

Thanks though.

Thanks for the reply. I finally got it going I had to reset my modem and re-do my ADSL and that did it not sure why though.

And yep I did try Mixed auth even WEP but that did not do it, I did not have a VPN prior to the upgrade as well Dylan.

Im not sure how it got fixed but resetting the helped. Thanks for the feedback yall rock n roll!

Hey there! Sorry for the delay! Sounds like you might need also set the Authentication type to "Mixed WPA2/WPA -PSK" and also the Encryption type to "TKIP+AES" just as I suspect Windows 10 might refuse to connect to a lower security type.

Just wondering if were using a VPN on Windows before you upgraded? If it's not supported in Windows 10 apparently that can cause some problems..

Good to hear it's working now, I've marked your reply as the solution to help others who might have the same problem.

I guess there must have been some details about the wireless network that didn't carry over properly with the upgrade! Will have to remember that one. Smiley Happy

Thanks

Hi there,

I have had one Dell desktop PC with a D-Link wifi adapter on Windows 10 for a couple of months now. It has gone without a hitch.

Last night I updated an (HP) laptop and a (Dell) all-in-1 to windows 10. On all 3 computers I now get wifi 'limited' sign and both our iphones (one a 5 and the other a 5s) no longer can access the wifi.

I have tried making the suggested changes and rebooted the router multiple times. Is it a clash of IP or network drivers or something? I have checked and all appears to be running as they should.

The only way I can post online is via a hotspot.

I can't really be bothered reverting back to windows 7 and I want at least the laptop to run windows 10 for netflix and xbox one streaming.

please help. It's very frustrating.

Tom
