Use My own Router (Linksys WRT1900AC) for FibreX Cable Internet

Hi

I have just upgrade my Cable conection to FibreX Max, service working all in order, but my own router seems having trouble with getting internet connection with the new cable modem, it was working good on the previous cable modem, I know that the old vodafone cable service use static IP, so to get it working with the internet setting need to select Static IP. however the new FibreX seem doesn't working that way, the IP address keep changing, does FibreX using DHCP? However even if I set my router to Automatic Configuration DHCP model, the router couldn't get Internet either.

My Router model is Linksys WRT1900AC

the image below show my router UI of the page of Internet Settings

I even tried to connect the Cable modem to my desktop computer directly, using auto gain IP address, it doesn't work. is that means the FibreX can only use with Vodafone HG659 Router only? So far I can only get the internet by using the vodafone HG659 router connected with the modem.  I want to get my own router connect to the Modem, I really don't want to connect my own router to the LAN port of the Vodafone router to get my own router working in that way. please show me some hint

Thanks

You need to add VLAN Tagging, they have designed the product to be very close to UFB.

VLAN 10

do you see much or any speed difference via the ethernet cable between the linksys and the vodafone modem?

No difference really, but the idea being you can thrash the linksys router harder than you can the huawei

weird. the speeds (ethernet & wifi) seem to be about half as fast when using the linksys wrt1900ac compared to the huawei one provided by vodaofone.

all i could see was to set the DHCP to automatic in the Linksys and then change the trunk line to 10. is there anything else that needs to be setup in the linksys?

You are better off using the Vodafone router and use the wrt1900ac as a wireless repeater.

FYI.....

Only the following Linksys Wi-Fi Routers (as of this posting) support VLAN Tagging required for use with Vodafone FiberX:

EA7500
EA8500
EA9200
EA9500
EA8300
WRT1200AC
WRT1900ACS
WRT1900AC
WRT3200ACM

I registered just to jump in and say thanks!  I had Fibre-x 200/20 installed yesterday (up from the old 100/10) and I wanted to switch routers to my Netgear R7000 because the WiFi performance of the Vodafone-supplied Huawei HG659 left a lot to be desired (it was fine when cabled, though).

I stayed up late last night tearing my hair out unable to get the Netgear working with the new setup, until I stumbled across this thread in my lunch break today.  And bam!  VLAN tagging fixed it right up!

Now I'm getting really good wireless performance around my house again.

Thanks again!
