@GailBray

Thanks for your post and apologies for the amounts of spam. We have suffered a number of waves of spam over the past few months but have been actively updating our spam filters on the servers as well as other measures. Unfortunately, it is a bit of a game of whack-a-mole. That said if you could find the time to send a few examples to us, that would help us.

We will get on top of this and continue to update as regularly as possible.

For the last few weeks I have been reacting to spam by sending the messages to missedspam@clear.net and adding the sender's name to the 'block sender' list.  Despite that the spam continues to arrive and the list of blocked senders has grown to exceed 200.

A significant proportion of the spam is quite blatant with the names of medications included in the subject line.  Vodafone's failure to filter such obvious spam exposes its customers to an unacceptable level of inconvenience.  It's easy to suspect that Vodafone has little interest in retaining the clear.net account holders.

Not sure if you know of a program called Mailwasher.

Mailwasher

I use it all the time. Althrough it is an older version.

There is a free version as well. not sure but I think it only checks one account

I have created a  filter running that checks either the subject line or body of the email (other options as well) for sepcific words like "viagra" or "cialis" and it can delete the email straight away with out even getting to your inbox if you want.

Mailwasher checks emails straight from the server. You dont need your email client open. Even allows you to reply to emails from it.

Itrs come in very handy since April when this debarcle started.

I'm not pushing this product. It was shown to me many many years ago and I have to admit its been doing the job.

I too have a clearnet webmail account, and it was the only reason I signed up with Vodafone back in the day. I have been very pleased with Vodafone. However, for several months now I have been drowning in spam. I currently get 100+ a day. Forwarding emails to 'missed spam' does not work, as I do not use an app to download my email to a device. I use webmail because I need to access my email across multiple devices on the go - this is why webmail exists. There has been a massive increase in spam over the past few days. So I decided not to delete the spam every hour for the past day or so, and after 2 1/2 days I have 303 spam emails. I find this unacceptable. If the local university can deal to spam BEFORE it gets to an account, why is it taking so long for an actual ISP to deal with this issue? Not sure how much longer I can live in hope of a solution.

I now have two problems with my clearnet webmail account.

1.  in the last 4 weeks there has been a sudden increase in spam levels.  When is this going to be fixed.

2. I am now not receiving my emails.  In the status screen it is reported as being a high priority problem.  It should be a severity one problem so the resources can be allocated to the problem.  A high priority problem is either a severity 3 or 2.

I too am a long time Clearnet customer and am stunnned that the amount of spam has gone from about 50 a day 2 months ago to 200 a day currently. I have previously contacted Vodafone who assure me they are "working hard" on the problem but it just seems to get worse. Come guys, get your act together and do some actual work!

Agreed with everything here!!

Vodafone seems to be really slacking with this spam..Its gotton out of control and all they say is "forward the spam to missedspam@clear.net.nz so we can update the spam filters"

Herad that (or read that) too many times.

Thing is they are probably trying to block this spam using the return path of the spam email which wont work as that always changes !!

They need to block using words or phrases from the body of the email or subject line.

I've purchased Mailwasher Pro and that works a treat !!

That checks against Spam companies like Spamhaus and Spamcop to check all incoming mail.

I'm going to lodge a complaint soon !

Then they have 6 weeks to sortn this **bleep** out then its to the Telecommunication Dispute Resolution Scheme to see if something can be done.

Completely Over Vodafone.

Hell even today the Clearnet email system is stuffed:

"Some Clearnet and Paradise customers may be experiencing some delays in sending and receiving emails. Our techs are looking into this and hope to have it fixed as soon as possible. We know how frustrating this is, and will keep you updated as things change. Thanks for your patience with us"

But heres the thing. The spam is still getting through to the Webmail Spam folder !!
