Clear mail

We have clear email accounts through Vodafone.

Our broadband is with Telecom

We recemtly received this message from Telecom:

----------------------

"Hello,
We recently sent you an email about updating your email settings. This is very important. Unless you change your email settings by 30 September, you won't be able to send any email.

If you think you've already made this change, please check that you've updated all devices you use for email.

You may or may not know that when you send email from ....s@clear.net.nz it gets directed through a Telecom server.

On 30 September, we’re making some changes that will help make your email more secure and reduce spam. It’s all part of giving you the best possible service, but first you’ll need to make some decisions about your email and update your system. Here are your options:

Keeping using your clear address

Your easiest option is send email directly through your email provider's server.  You'll need their 'outgoing mail' settings for POP email to make the necessary update. Please contact them directly to find out what updates to make to your settings.""

 -------------------

SO

I have changed my outgoing mail to smtp.clear.net.nz however this is not working and I"m getting error messages.

I have tried multiple times to call Vodafone however after around an HOUR on hold each time have have had to give up as

cannot waste my whole evening trying to contact them!

Help please !

@CathySSpark / Telecom should be supporting their customers with this change, We have changed nothing on our side,

The actual fix / INFO is taken from the Spark website

Thanks for that, tried those settings exactly but no fix.   We are not on a vodafone network, rather telecom network.  Perhaps telecom should sort this out but they advised us to go to our email provider ....?

Thank you for your reply.  Incoming mail is working correctly thanks.

Error mesage is:

Send test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

Then you have not set it up as advised, That is the only reason why you would get that error message

While setting up your email did you make sure that these settings here were followed:

Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name: smtp.clear.net.nz

Outgoing server requires authentication: Should not be ticked.

PORT: 25

Hi, thanks for the reply

Yes and yes

Prior to the above email from Telecom advising us that we needed to make the changes the outgoing mail server was

smtp.xtra.co.nz and incoming was pop3.clear.net.nz

Now I have changed the outgoing to smtp.clear.net.nz

@CathySOn the thread I linked off to it advises for outgoing and no need to touch incoming

This is the Spark / Telecom settings for outgoing / sending (smtp)

smtp.officemail.co.nz

Port = 587

No Authentication
