As far as I can tell my Vodafone smart ultra 6 has never managed to update the software. It is running VDF-995NB01-UK03c
everytime I try I get the message "Network error please try again later!"

That's a bit strange! Do you get any specific error codes by any chance?
Alternatively you can try performing a factory reset on your mobile phone and then set it up as a new phone d try doing the update. Make sure that you back up the phone data before resetting the phone.

A couple of days ago, I received a NEW phone under warranty repair and the first thing I tried is the software update but I keep getting network error. Where can I download this update for sd-card?

Take it back to the store, tell them you would like a replacement as this one seems to have a major defect

Thank you greg. What a relief.
After speaking to Warehouse Stationery Tech Services and Vodafone Call Centre, neither could tell me if this was a fault since they had never heard of it before.
I will be taking it back to WHS first thing tomorrow morning. I am hoping it won't take another month like it did to get this replacement phone. *fingers crossed*

should only be a maximum of 10 working days for a repair turnaround, if you get a replacement (or a repair) turn it on in store to confirm the fault doesn't happen on the replacement or repaired unit.
