Are my Telecom Phones Compatible

We are considering switchng over to Vodafone from Telecom.  We have 6 mobiles.  There doesn't appear to be any place wehere one can type in their serial numbe or similar to determine if the phone will be compatible.  I need you factor in the costs of 6 brand new phones if they are not.

These are the phones

LG Optimus P500

HTV One V

HTC Wildfire

Huawei Ideos

Does anyone know how I can  determine this, apart from going in to the store with all 6 phones.

Being lower-end devices, these are quite unlikely to have the 900MHz 3G band necessary for ideal operation on the Vodafone network. Telecom's network uses 850MHz for 3G where Vodafone uses 900MHz, so they tend to have specific variants of devices like these that support 850 and not 900. We will need the exact model numbers to provide you with further information. As Nigel says above, this can be determined in a number of places online using the IMEI number. Smiley Happy

Those devices will all work on Vodafone, but you likely won't get 3G everywhere due to their lack of 900MHz 3G support.

Please don't use GSM Arena to confirm the band support, however, as that site is notorious for putting multiple hardware variants on a single page, e.g. it will list 850/900/2100Mhz for a device that supports either 900/2100 or 850/2100.

Cheers,

Good morning,

Vodafone's network works on the following frequencies

2G - 900 MHZ
3G - 2100 MHz
3G Extended- 900MHz
4G - 1800 MHz

The phones you have provided work on the following frequencies

LG Optimus One P500
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100

HTC One V
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100

HTC Wildfire
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100

Huawei Ideos - There are quite a few Huawei Ideos phones out there if you happen to know the model you can find the frequency by visiting www.gsmarena.com (this is where i found the above information also).

Regards
Rochelle B

This link you can use to check TAC/IMEI -> http://www.nobbi.com/tacquery.php

From there you can get model type and check out a place like GSM Arena and ensure the device supports 2G/G900 and 3G both U900 & U2100
