I am currntly a vodafone customer but have just brought a new 4g sim card, I'd like to use this in my new phone but would like to keep my current number, can I do so? Tried to do it online but it came up with an error and to contact a vodafone store. Hope you can help.

Cheers

Hi Emily,

it's likely that the SIM already has a number on it, hence the error that you received. Smiley Happy

4G access is determined by the plan provisioned to a SIM card, rather than the SIM itself - any Vodafone SIM card is technically capable of 4G. If your current SIM is the right size for your mobile phone, and everything is currently working, there won't be any changes or advantage in switching to a newer SIM card.

If you need a differently-sized SIM for a new phone, just pop into a Vodafone store and we can switch your existing number over to a Micro or Nano SIM free of charge.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Thanks for that, seems I've been had! Brought new phone and shop assistant insisted I needed new sim to go with phone.

Although it was given at a discounted rate, you're telling me i dont even need it.

Can it be used in a phone that is not 4g capable?

Vodafone provide blank sim cards free of charge.  Was this a new prepay sim the store sold you?

You would need a blank sim to have your number moved across not one with a number already allocated to it.

If you pop into a VF store, they should be able to provide one for you.

4G access is controlled from the network / plan side not SIM card
